District 55 will welcome a food market

Le District 55 accueillera un marché d'alimentation

Trois-Rivières, July 14, 2026 – District 55 has reached a major milestone in its development. Groupe Robin is proud to announce the arrival of a food market, an essential addition that completes its vision of creating a true mixed-use community where people can live, work, play and now shop for groceries close to home.

The future market will be the first Mayrand Food Depot in the Mauricie region, an Empire Company Limited banner that combines the value of a food warehouse with the welcoming experience of a neighbourhood market. Staying true to the DNA that has made Mayrand a trusted name in Québec for more than 100 years, the brand stands out through its unique offering designed to meet the needs of families, food enthusiasts, restaurateurs and entrepreneurs alike. Customers will enjoy a wide selection of products, the savings and bulk formats that have made the brand successful, all within a warm and convenient shopping environment.

From the very beginning, District 55 has been developed around an ambitious vision: to create a neighbourhood where everyday essentials are accessible within a 15-minute walk or drive.

Over the years, the district has welcomed hundreds of new homes, hotels, workplaces, restaurants, specialty retailers and entertainment venues. The arrival of a food market now completes that vision and represents a key milestone in the realization of a true mixed-use community.

Beyond its commercial purpose, this new addition responds to a long-standing need expressed by local residents and will help simplify everyday life for thousands of people in Trois-Rivières and across the Mauricie region.

A destination that continues to stand out

District 55 continues to establish itself as a unique destination in Mauricie by bringing together businesses that each offer a distinctive experience. Following the arrival of Decathlon, Latulippe, Ameublements Tanguay, Adrénaline Urbaine and many other partners, this new food destination further strengthens a complementary and one-of-a-kind commercial offering in the region. Every new business is carefully selected to add value to the community and provide experiences that cannot be found anywhere else in Mauricie.

“From day one, we have been developing District 55 with one conviction: a true community is built one partner at a time. Every business that joins District 55 must make a meaningful contribution to residents' everyday lives. The arrival of this food market marks a pivotal milestone in that vision and confirms District 55 as a unique destination where people can live, work, play and now shop for groceries—all within the same neighbourhood.”

Strategically located at the entrance to District 55, near the Laviolette Bridge, the market will benefit from a prime location and become one of the district’s main commercial gateways. In the future, this area will also welcome additional neighbourhood services, including a pharmacy, further expanding the range of essential amenities available to residents and visitors.

The future building will feature contemporary, warm and distinctive architecture that will further strengthen the identity of District 55. Highly visible from the highway, it will become one of the district’s architectural landmarks and create an iconic entrance to the community.

Construction of the building will begin in 2026, with the opening scheduled for summer 2027.
